Ingredients

Scale

Beef

  • 8 oz thinly sliced flank or sirloin steak
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce (for marinating)
  • 1 tsp cornstarch (for marinating)

Noodles

  • 8 oz Lo Mein (egg) noodles
  • 1 tsp vegetable oil (to toss noodles)

Vegetables

  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 carrot, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup snap peas

Sauce

  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil

Aromatics & Oils

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (for stir-frying)

Garnish

  • 2 green onions, sliced

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef: Slice the beef thinly against the grain to keep it tender. Marinate lightly with 1 tbsp soy sauce and 1 tsp cornstarch for about 10 minutes to lock in moisture and flavor.
  2. Cook the Noodles: Boil the Lo Mein noodles according to package instructions until just tender. Drain and toss with 1 tsp vegetable oil to prevent sticking. Set aside.
  3. Stir-Fry the Vegetables: Heat 2 tbsp vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add minced garlic and ginger, sauté until fragrant. Toss in bell peppers, carrots, and snap peas, stir-fry until they are bright and crisp-tender.
  4. Cook the Beef: Add the marinated beef to the pan with vegetables and cook quickly until browned but not overdone, about 2-3 minutes.
  5. Combine and Sauce: Return the cooked noodles to the pan. Pour in soy sauce, oyster sauce, and drizzle sesame oil over everything. Toss together over heat until well combined and heated through.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Finish with sliced green onions for freshness. Serve the Beef Lo Mein hot and enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • Slice beef thinly against the grain to ensure tenderness.
  • Cook noodles until just tender to prevent mushiness during stir-frying.
  • Use high heat when stir-frying to retain crisp vegetables and juicy beef.
  • Marinate beef briefly (at least 10 minutes) for enhanced flavor.
  • Always use fresh garlic and ginger for best flavor.
  • Adjust soy sauce amounts to avoid overpowering saltiness.
