Ingredients

Scale

Brownie Batter

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup (35g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup (95g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Cheesecake Layer

  • 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup (60g) sour cream
  • 1/3 cup (65g) granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Fruit

  • 1 cup fresh blackberries

Instructions

  1. Prepare the brownie batter: Melt the butter and mix it with granulated sugar and cocoa powder until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract, then fold in the flour and salt, mixing just until combined to maintain a fudgy texture.
  2. Make the cheesecake layer: In a separate bowl, beat the cream cheese and sour cream until creamy and smooth. Add sugar and vanilla extract, continuing to mix until well blended.
  3. Assemble the layers: Pour half of the brownie batter into a greased baking pan, spreading it evenly. Dollop spoonfuls of the cheesecake mixture over the batter, then scatter fresh blackberries on top. Pour the remaining brownie batter over the cheesecake layer, then gently swirl the layers together using a knife or skewer for a marbled effect.
  4. Bake and cool: Bake the assembled brownies at 325°F (165°C) for 35-40 minutes, or until the edges are set and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean. Cool completely in the pan before slicing for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Use fresh blackberries and real cream cheese for the best flavor.
  • Do not overmix the batter to keep brownies tender and fudgy.
  • Allow brownies to cool fully before slicing for clean slices without crumbling.
  • Swirl gently to maintain the classic marbled look without blending layers completely.
  • Use a non-stick pan or parchment paper for easy removal.
