  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup dulce de leche

Instructions

  1. Brown the Butter: Melt unsalted butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Stir frequently and watch closely until it turns golden brown and emits a nutty aroma, about 4 to 6 minutes. Remove immediately from heat to avoid burning.
  2. Add Marshmallows and Vanilla: Quickly add mini marshmallows to the browned butter and stir until fully melted and smooth. Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt to balance the sweetness.
  3. Incorporate Rice Krispies Cereal: Pour the Rice Krispies cereal into the marshmallow mixture. Gently fold the mixture until every piece of cereal is thoroughly coated. Work quickly before the mixture starts to set.
  4. Layer Dulce de Leche: Reserve about 1/3 of the mixture. Press the remaining 2/3 evenly into a greased or parchment-lined pan to create the base layer. Drop spoonfuls of dulce de leche over this base. Then, layer the reserved mixture on top and gently press it down to seal everything in.
  5. Chill and Cut: Refrigerate the assembled treats for at least 1 hour to cool and set. Once firm, lift the treats from the pan and cut into squares or preferred shapes using a sharp knife.
