Ingredients

Cookies

  • Oreos (regular or vegan)

Chocolate Coating

  • Chocolate melts or candy coating (white, milk, dark, or colored)
  • Gel or liquid food coloring (for tinting white chocolate into pastel hues)

Decorations

  • Sprinkles and edible decorations (Easter-themed jimmies, nonpareils, colored sugar, edible glitter)
  • Chopped nuts (pistachios, almonds) – optional for nutty crunch
  • Freeze-dried crushed fruit (strawberries or raspberries) – optional for fruit infusion

Tools & Others

  • Toothpicks or dipping tools (forks or skewers)
  • Wax paper or parchment paper (for drying)
  • Melted peanut butter (optional for drizzle)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Your Workspace: Line a baking sheet with wax or parchment paper to place your dipped Oreos. Set up your dipping station with melted chocolate in a deep bowl and toothpicks or forks ready for dipping.
  2. Melt the Chocolate: Gently melt your choice of chocolate in microwave-safe bowls, heating in 20-second intervals and stirring between each until smooth and fully melted. If desired, add gel or liquid food coloring to white chocolate to create festive pastel colors.
  3. Dip the Oreos: Using a toothpick or fork, dip each Oreo into the melted chocolate, fully coating it. Allow the excess chocolate to drip off before placing the coated cookie on the prepared sheet to dry.
  4. Decorate Immediately: Before the chocolate sets, add your colorful Easter-themed sprinkles, edible glitter, chopped nuts, or crushed fruit to enhance texture and appearance.
  5. Allow to Set: Let the dipped Oreos rest at room temperature or refrigerate for 10–15 minutes until the chocolate hardens completely.

Notes

  • Use good quality chocolate melts for a smooth coating and better taste.
  • Apply thin layers of chocolate to avoid clumping and speed up drying.
  • Avoid overheating chocolate to maintain a glossy finish and prevent burning.
  • Ensure Oreos are at room temperature before dipping to avoid condensation and sogginess.
  • For a shinier finish, let the chocolate set at room temperature; refrigerate if short on time.
  • To thin thick chocolate, add a teaspoon of vegetable oil or shortening before dipping.
  • Sprinkle decorations immediately after dipping while chocolate is still wet to prevent sinking.
  • Chocolate Covered Easter Oreos can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week or frozen for up to two months.
