Instructions

  1. Activate the Yeast: Begin by mixing the warm water (between 105°F and 115°F) with the active dry yeast and 1 tablespoon of honey. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy and bubbly to ensure a perfect rise.
  2. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the whole wheat flour and salt, creating the foundation for your bread’s texture and flavor.
  3. Mix Wet Ingredients: Add the frothy yeast mixture, the remaining honey, olive oil or melted butter, and milk (if using) to the dry ingredients. Stir until a sticky dough forms.
  4. Knead the Dough: Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until it becomes smooth, elastic, and slightly tacky.
