Pistachio Tiramisu

Pistachio Tiramisu is a creamy, luscious twist on the classic Italian dessert that combines rich mascarpone cream with nutty pistachio flavors and coffee-soaked ladyfingers. This easy-to-make dessert offers a unique green-hued presentation and perfectly balanced sweetness, ideal for dinner parties, holidays, or special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 250g Mascarpone cheese
  • 4 Egg yolks
  • 100g Sugar
  • 100g Pistachio paste (preferably fresh or high-quality)
  • 1 cup Espresso or strong coffee, cooled
  • 200g Ladyfinger biscuits
  • 200ml Whipped cream (heavy cream whipped to soft peaks)

Garnish

  • Chopped pistachios
  • Optional: Powdered sugar for dusting

Optional

  • 23 tablespoons Coffee liqueur (e.g., amaretto or coffee liqueur)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pistachio Mascarpone Cream: Whisk the egg yolks and sugar together in a heatproof bowl over simmering water until the mixture thickens and becomes pale, creating a creamy custard base. Remove from heat and carefully fold in the mascarpone cheese and pistachio paste until smooth and velvety.
  2. Whip the Cream: In a separate chilled bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone-pistachio mixture, maintaining a light and airy texture.
  3. Soak the Ladyfingers: Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled espresso or coffee liqueur mixture, ensuring they absorb some moisture but remain slightly firm to hold the layers well.
  4. Assemble the Layers: In a serving dish or individual glasses, arrange a layer of coffee-soaked ladyfingers. Spread a generous layer of the pistachio mascarpone cream over them. Repeat the layering process until the ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of the cream on top.
  5. Chill and Garnish: Cover the assembled tiramisu and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld. Before serving, sprinkle chopped pistachios on top and optionally dust with powdered sugar for a perfect finishing touch.

Notes

  • Use fresh or high-quality pistachio paste for the best flavor.
  • Quickly dip ladyfingers to avoid sogginess.
  • Allow the dessert to chill thoroughly for optimal texture and flavor integration.
  • Soften mascarpone to room temperature before mixing to prevent lumps.
  • Fold the whipped cream gently to keep the mixture light and fluffy.
