Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground Nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon Ground Cloves

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup Pumpkin Puree
  • 2 large Eggs
  • 1/2 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

Sugars

  • 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar

Add-ins

  • 1 cup Chocolate Chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare: Start by preheating your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan or line it with parchment paper to ensure your bread comes out easily.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and your blend of ground cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves to ensure even distribution of spices and leavening agents.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, beat the eggs with brown and granulated sugar until smooth. Stir in the vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and pumpkin puree until fully incorporated and creamy.
  4. Bring It All Together: Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring gently just to combine. Do not overmix to keep the bread tender. Finally, fold in the chocolate chips evenly throughout the batter.
  5. Bake the Bread: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 55–65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with just a few moist crumbs.
  6. Cool Before Serving: Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 15 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing. This helps the flavors settle and prevents crumbling.

Notes

  • Use fresh ground cinnamon and nutmeg to enhance the bread’s aroma and flavor.
  • Stir ingredients gently to avoid tough bread and maintain a light crumb.
  • Add chocolate chips last and fold them in carefully to prevent melting into the batter too soon.
  • Use eggs and pumpkin puree at room temperature to help the batter blend more evenly.
  • Check the bread early at 50 minutes to avoid overbaking, which can dry it out.
