Tremendous Cheesy Pepperoni Stromboli

The Tremendous Cheesy Pepperoni Stromboli is a delicious Italian-inspired handheld meal featuring a crispy golden crust wrapped around melty mozzarella, spicy pepperoni, and rich parmesan. Perfect as a family dinner, party snack, or meal prep option, this stromboli is easy to make, highly customizable, and delivers bold, comforting flavors in every bite.

Ingredients

Dough and Base

  • Pizza Dough: 1 fresh or store-bought dough ball (about 12-14 oz)
  • Olive Oil: 1-2 tablespoons for brushing

Fillings

  • Marinara Sauce: 1/2 cup quality sauce
  • Mozzarella Cheese: 1 1/2 cups shredded
  • Pepperoni Slices: 20-25 slices
  • Italian Seasoning: 1 teaspoon (mix of oregano, basil, etc.)
  • Parmesan Cheese: 1/4 cup grated for topping

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Roll out your pizza dough on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle about ¼ inch thick, ensuring an even thickness throughout for uniform baking.
  2. Layer the Ingredients: Spread a thin, even layer of marinara sauce over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges to allow sealing. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the sauce, then arrange pepperoni slices evenly. Finish by sprinkling Italian seasoning over the top to enhance the flavor.
  3. Roll It Up: Starting from one long edge, carefully roll the dough into a tight log, keeping the fillings contained inside. Pinch the seams and edges firmly to seal completely, then transfer the stromboli onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, placing it seam-side down to prevent openings.
  4. Brush and Cheese: Brush the outside of the stromboli with olive oil to promote a golden, crispy crust. Sprinkle grated parmesan cheese evenly on top to add a nutty, golden finish.
  5. Bake Until Golden: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and bake the stromboli for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese inside is melted and bubbly.

Notes

  • Maintain even dough thickness to avoid uneven cooking or burnt spots.
  • Do not overfill with ingredients to ensure the stromboli seals correctly and isn’t messy to eat.
  • Use a little water or olive oil on dough edges to create a tight seal and prevent leaks during baking.
  • Always preheat the oven fully before baking to achieve a perfect crust.
  • Let the stromboli rest for a few minutes after baking to allow the cheese to set and avoid oozing when sliced.
